Tiffany's Six Pack

Last night we had an amazing sunset.  I'm so glad I just happened to be out hiking with Lilly and decided to stay and watch the sun go down over Pikes Peak, I posted some pictures below I took with the phone.  Trust me when I say it was even more beautiful in person.
Today, I worked out early,  came home to get ready for the week and made green drinks to go.  This week I decided to add "Tags of Gratitude" to my Green Drinks.  I just want to remind myself of things I'm thankful for and not take things for granted.  Sometimes it's easy to feel bad because you are going through a tough time in life.  However, remember that no matter how bad your situation may seem, there are tens of thousands of things to be grateful for.  For example, I put "Love, Health, Friends, Family, Yoga & Pilates on one side of the tags and other side I added little sayings that mean something to me.  This will be a great reminder of how lucky I am and should put a smile on my face in the morning when I open the refrigerator.
All Ready To Go...NO RUSHING!
Ingredients:

2 organic pears
2 cups organic pear juice
3 cups organic spinach
1 organic apple
1 cup organic celery
2 cups organic purple kale
1 cup organic fennel
1/2 cup organic parsley
4 tablespoons Barlean's Omega Oil (You pick)
3 scoops Amazing Grass Brand Wheatgrass
2 tablespoons raw ginger, peeled and diced
1 cup frozen organic peaches

Method:

Blend in a Vita-mix and pour into containers.  VOILA! You are ready for 3 days...unless a boy drinks one...HA,HA!

Here they are in the refrigerator!  Ready to Go!
This was Amazing!

The sky kept changing by the second!

Just look at Pike's Peak!  Just WOW!

It looked like it was on fire!

Lilly Modeling of Course!

Look at her sitting getting her picture taken...What a HAM!
Have A GREAT Week!

Jeannene's Green Drink

This is a shout out to my BFF in Connecticut...Jeannene!  This is her drink of choice and her skin is glowing.  So, maybe we should all drink this every morning.  The only difference in this drink, that is different than the drink she drinks is that I put fresh Wheatgrass in it and not the powdered one (Amazing Grasses Brand).  I'm drinking it now and I must say I LOVE the taste of the Fennel.  LOVE YA GIRLFRIEND and have a wonderful Valentine's Day!
This cute kiss is for you:) XOXO!
  Ingredient's

1 cup fresh organic fennel
1/2 cup fresh Organic Italian Parsley
 1 Organic green pear
1/4 cup fresh Wheatgrass, or use 1 scoop Amazing Grasses Brand
1 cup organic pear juice
1 tablespoon flax oil or Barlean's Omega oil

Method:

Blend in high powered blender or vita-mix and serve.
Jeannene, Wish you were here to go hiking with us or I was there to go to NY:)  Happy Valentine's Day!!

Mom & Son Smoothies... with Mango Slushy Topping

My little guy is still recovering from the concussion.  When I got home this morning he said to me, "Mom can you make me the smoothie bowl but not in a bowl?"  I replied, "Sure"!  But, of course as I began making it I thought, "Well, this is kinda boring and I want a bit of greens mixed in mine...Oh and maybe a Mango slushy topping".  So, in this little post I'm just going to tell you how to make the Mango topping that is on my drink because I've already posted the recipes about the blueberry and green drink portion of the beverages.  If you want to look it up, the blueberry portion is the "Concussion Smoothie Bowl" and the green part of my drink is what I called "Blooming Banana Greens in a Jar". But, seriously the best part of my drink is the TOPPING!  It's what I make when I want ice cream.  This is super easy and works with any frozen fruit.  The only catch is you need a high powered blender or this won't work.  Enjoy!!
My drink is to the left!  I topped it with My Mango slushy and fresh mango slices.... YUMMY!
 Ingredients:

1 Cup Frozen Organic Mango Chunks
1 heaping teaspoon of Organic honey
1/4 cup fresh water or mango juice if you have it, you can even use Almond milk

Method:

Blend on high in Vita-mix, this won't work unless you have a high powered Blender.  But, I must say it's my favorite summer time beverage and worth making if you have a high powered blender.  I substitute frozen pineapple, blueberries, cherries, peaches...literately any fruit.  Enjoy, Enjoy!
I also topped mine with sprouted Almonds....YUM~O!

Blooming Banana Greens

It's February 1st and everything is still brown and NOTHING is growing.  I decided I needed to see something not brown or covered with snow so I made my green drink today "look" like it was growing.  I added the banana hearts for a little fun!  This drink is packed with everything green with the exception of the bananas!   Enjoy your Sunday and the football game!

Ingredients:

1 scoop of Organic Wheatgrass (I use Amazing Greens brand)
1 cup Red Kale
1 cup spinach
1 cup dandalion greens
2 green Pears
1 banana
1 cup Organic Pear juice
1 cup ice
1 tablespoon Barlean's Pina Colada swirl (Fish Oil)

Method:

Blend all in a Vita-mix or high speed blender and serve.   Decorate it how you wish... just to have a little fun!

Pina Colada Fruition

IT'S FRIDAY FUN DAY!  Another day... Another green drink and a fun hairdo to boot!  I went on a walk with Lilly this A.M. and this guy I passed stopped me and wouldn't stop talking about my hair.  I can't stop laughing because if he only knew how much effort I didn't put into this.  I literally worked out then thru it all up into a ponytail (all messy).  But, in all seriousness and back to the important beverage... I absolutely LOVE this Green Drink, it's so refreshing!  You can't beat a healthy Pina Colada.  Every time I purchase fresh Pineapple I end up making at least one of these smoothies. Enjoy!
Very tasty and refreshing!
Ingredients:

1 cup fresh pineapple
1 cup, a mix of spinach and red kale
1/2 cup Organic pineapple juice
1/2 cup water
1 cup chopped celery
2 tablespoons Barlean's Pina Colada
1 tablespoon spirulina powder
1/2 scoop of organic wheatgrass powder

Method:

Blend all well in a vita-mix, pour in a glass and serve.

SEE...what a mess:)

I didn't even manage to get all my hair up!  Too Funny!  I guess messy is in:)

Tropical Cherry Smoothie Bowl

This morning I took my sons best friend for Birthday Doughnuts before school!  I arranged with his Mom to have him spend the night so that really early I could go wake them, and bring them to this cute Doughnut shop for his Birthday.  Trust me when I say none of the boys were thrilled with me when at 5:40 I'm running around jumping on the beds to wake them up singing Happy Birthday...None of them were amused!  They were even more upset when as we were driving down the expressway I said, "Well, did you soccer boys bring your Yoga Mats (As I pointed to mine in the back)?"  They all at the same time said, "I'M NOT DOING THAT"!  I just laughed...Oh... the torture I put them all thru, he he he!
Well, I of course did NOT eat a doughnut!  Instead I came home and made myself a Smoothie bowl.  I had some of yesterday's smoothie in the refrigerator and then made the cherry portion below and combined the two.  YUMMY!  Oh, and I feel great, meanwhile the three of them are REALLY ILL! See... I'll teach them the hard way!
Loaded with a ton of health Benefits all in one bowl!
Ingredients:
The Yellow part was yesterday''s post "Mango Mountain Madness"

The Red Portion is below:
1 cup organic Frozen Cherries
1/2 Frozen Banana
1/2 cup Organic Black Cherry Juice
1 cup spinach
1 tablespoon Spirulina Powder (5g of protein)
1 kelp capsule, emptied
1/2 cupful of Organic Wheatgrass Powder (Cap comes in the container)

Method:

Blend all ingredients together, spoon in the red first and then add the Yellow and use whatever toppings you would like.  I used sliced bananas & walnuts to decorate mine this morning.  It had to be quick:) Also, the Spirulina contains 5g of protein while an egg contains 6g of protein so Spirulina is a great source of protein when you don't have time to cook.  I also should mention.. now I have extra of the Cherry portion that I'm enjoying out of a glass!  Have a Great Day!

Mango Mountian Madness Smoothy

This smoothy contains a little MADNESS in the smoothie because of the secret ingredients (and the story that follows).  My kids always tease me when I say I'll make them a smoothy, they say, "So Mom... What did you hide in this drink?" I respond, "WHO ME...NEVER"!  But, in all seriousness it's a great way to get some extra vitamins, herbs or minerals without swallowing a pill.  The trick is to make it still taste good... this one tastes like a Creamsicle... only better!

A perfect blend of Mango, Orange and Banana with Benefits
Ingredients:

1 organic orange peeled,
1 1/2 cups of frozen mango chunks
1 frozen banana
2 capsules kelp, emptied of there contents in Vita-mix
1 tablespoon Barlean's Orange Cream fish oil with omega's
1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed if you have it)
1 cup ice cubes

To Decorate the top:

1 Shot of inner-eco Mega Probiotic tropical flavor
6 Coco Mango Pomegranate Chews, purchased at whole foods in the bulk section
1 slice of orange
and a secret edible mountain carved by ME:)

I set the drink down an walked away as I was walking back I thought... that's cute:)

A close up of the desert in a Jar... or at least it tastes like it!
After I was done taking the picture and was going to finish the hike and drink my smoothy, I looked back and Lilly was sitting on the rock where the drink was!  You know... it's all about the dog!

FrouFrou Red Dandelion Smoothie

Nothing at all Red about this drink, but in contains so much nutrition in one jar you won't need to take those nasty unnatural Vitamins today and you will forget that you used Red Dandelion Greens when looking at the drink.  It's a pretty one and everything here is edible!

Instead of me just telling that you should use something, today,  I'm going to give you 10 reasons why Dandelion Greens are a wonderful choice for smoothies:

#1 High In Calcium ~ Just one cup of these greens has 103 milligrams (10% of the recommended daily value) of calcium.  That's slightly more than Kale.
#2 Rich in Iron ~ One cup contains 1.7 milligrams
#3 Low Calories ~ One cup has only 25 calories, which is actually more than some of the other greens but still very low.
#4 The Ultimate detox & Cleansing green ~ If your goal is to detox and cleanse this should be your green of choice (Great Liver Cleanser)...people always over look this one and think of it as a Spring/Summer green only...IT'S NOT.
#5 Loaded with Antioxidants ~ High in Vitamin A & C
#6 Lots of Minerals ~ Good source of copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium.
#7 14% Protein ~ these greens have more protein than Spinach and they are a complete protein because they contain the essential amino acids.
#8 Multivitamin in a LEAF ~  Yes with the above vitamins I mentioned they also contain B1, B2, B6, Vitamin E and they are abundant in Vitamin K... which is GREAT for the O blood type.
#9 Nutritional Booster ~ When eaten or added with other greens they are a great source of helping to get more of the nutrition in our bodies.
#10 Health Benefits ~ These greens if added to your diet can help reduce the risk of cancer, multiple sclerosis, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration and stroke.

SO... Now that I got your attention how about adding a little to your smoothie...It just takes 1 cup!

It's So warm out today this is the perfect drink!
Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup Organic Red Dandelion greens
1 scoop Organic Wheatgrass...yep I'm sneaky!
1 cup frozen pineapple
1 cup frozen Mango
3/4 cup Organic Pineapple Juice
2 tablespoon Barlean's Orange Cream fish oil
1/4 cup water
4 ice cubes
1 probiotic pill, emptied of it's contents (Use whatever probiotic you would like)

Method:

Blend Dandelion greens, wheatgrass, pineapple, mango, Pineapple Juice, water, Ice cubes, and 1 tablespoon of fish oil together in a vita-mix blender. When well, blended pour into a jar or glass of your choice and pour in probiotic and top with another tablespoon of orange fish oil and stir in. Add whatever decoration on top if you wish. ENJOY!

Lemon Rappini Refresher

Today I was in the mood for a clean tasting green drink!  To use my Swedish, Lagom (Not too little, not too much. Just right).  It needed to be the perfect balance of greens and lemon to call this a refresher.  Back home, in Minnesota,  I would get this fresh homemade lemonade that was almost tart tasting.  The restaurant would make it with whole lemons and apples...so good!  Boy... do I miss that.  So today I thought I'd try to replicate the taste but still incorporate the greens in the drink.  Here it is....

Ingredients:
1 cup Rappini
1 scoop Organic Wheatgrass Powder
1/2 Organic Lemon (rind and all)
1 cup frozen mango
2 tablespoons Lemon Flax Oil
1 cup filtered water
1 small ripe apple

Method:
Place all ingredients in a Vita-mix and blend until it runs smooth.  NOTE: Some juicers might not be able to make this drink.  You'll need a high powered blender.

The lighting at 5 is really rather strange. I'm just trying to show you the bubbles!
Me trying to talk to Lilly about Dog Behavior... as she gets older she conveniently forgets our rules! Dogs:)
